Long and short: we’re involved in a due process filing over our daughter’s IEP. We’ve all met with attorneys, this has been going on for a bit; tonight, the superintendent of the school called and said he’d like to meet with us WITHOUT attorneys to try and resolve this. There’s exactly no possible good outcome that can come from this, right?

        • September 2, 2009 4:52 pm

Why does it have to be bad? They probably just want to talk without people (ie attorneys) throwing out threats and stuff like that.

          • Magnakai Haaskivi permalink
            September 2, 2009 5:03 pm

It’s not that it has to be bad; they’ve made a settlement offer today that we’ve rejected on the grounds that it doesn’t really address any of the issues we have. We also had a mitigation session earlier this week that came to nothing, and they pulled something similar after that.

        • mekalek permalink

Sometimes a peaceful well rounded resolution can come about without all the Lawyering. You would always have the option to go back to the Lawyers if you don’t like what you’re hearing.

The biggest problem is that the Superintendant more than likely has gotten advice on this meeting with his/her lawyer. It will more than likely be a scripted meeting for them while you are caught shooting from the hip. I’m no lawyer but have sat through enough depositions and been a witness at enough trials that I know rule #1….which is posted above. Just my opinion though.

I had no idea. I always went for “fridge temp” or barring that “cooler temp”. Interesting.

      • September 2, 2009 6:26 pm

I correct myself (I prefer porters and stouts, hence my temperature gauge above)

The proper temperature is essential for beer enjoyment. A beer served too cold will withhold most of its flavor. But while serving beer at room temperature brings out the flavors and aromas and is appropriate when judging beer, most drinkers prefer something cooler. Some general guidelines:

        – Serve fruit beers at 40-50Ā° F.
        – Serve wheat beers and pale lagers at 45-50Ā° F.
        – Serve pale ales and amber or dark lagers at 50-55Ā° F.
        – Serve strong ales, such as barley wines and Belgian ales, at 50-55Ā° F.
        – Serve dark ales, including porters and stouts, at 55-60Ā° F.

        • September 2, 2009 6:28 pm

I will drink anything that should be served between 45 and 55. Recommend me a good stout?

Florida/FSU, Georgia/GT and Norte Dame/Navy). Same way with bball, we can only get 1 or 2 big time teams in the ooc because the real good mid majors won’t play us (except dayton which is a geo thing) and neither will the other big time majors.

I think there will be. Roy Halladay, Tommy Hanson, Rick Porcello. Someone that’s really good at a young age. I just needs to be a guy like Halladay that stays in the game.

I don’t know, they get pulled at the slightest hint of trouble, then the next guy comes in, and then the closer. Halladay and Sabathia are the only old school hurlers left, IMO. They’re the guys who could play multiple games in a row, and complete games. And Sabathia I don’t think has the frame to last.

Cliff Lee is in that category as well. But I don’t think he has enough wins under his belt to get to 300. I don’t think we won’t ever see it again. I just believe it will a MUCH rarer feat the rest of my lifetime.

I just think it’s more likely that someone like Porcello or Hanson averages 15 wins a year for 20 years. That means they would be pitching til either 40 or 43 which is very possible considering Randy Johnson (with all his back problems, is still in there at 46) and guys like Glavine and Maddux called it quits at around 42-43. Of the guys currently in their prime Halladay is the only guy with a shot. I too think CC’s massive body will break down.

This is mainly what i was thinking of. From Deadspin. He’s funny as hell, i sat in left at Phils games for years.

The story goes: A few guys were on a business trip in Pittsburgh. A couple of the guys knew the Phils were in town, so when they all spotted Burrell at a club there one night, it wasn’t a total surprise. Pat ended up taking a liking to one of the girls in their group. She thought he was hot but didn’t follow baseball. He took her back to his hotel room, and a make-out session ensued until she alerted Pat that she would NOT do him. Not fazed by this, Burrell seemed to respect her chastity, and rather than force himself on her or fly into a blueball rage, he asked a simple question, glancing down at his engorged pants: “Mind if I take care of business?”

I’ll hook you up with the schedule, and let you know when we get the chance to host again.
